ISS 9K6 packet via a soundcard

10/December /2008

Orbit 57.631

16:42 - 16:52 UTC

I succeded to work ISS packet mode at 9k6

using AWGPE and UISS softwares and a soundcard

Here are snapshots include my sategate report to APRS

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ST2NH- SATGATE

 11-11-2008

I put my satation as SATGATE on air today . Using UI-VIEW software

I succeded to report the APRS transmitted from the  ISS to the internet  APRS .

My  callsign (ST2NH) appear on Amateur Radio Stations heard via ISS website .

I just recieved the APRS beacon from the ISS. I did not transmit any packet .

Even I have no PTT line attached to my RIG .

To Setup  your station as a  Satgate  satation

First you need to setup your softwares

Get a validation number for UI-VIEW32  and for UISS  Sategate Module.

Setup your AGW packet engine for soundcard or  TNC

Take the audio  and feed it to your PC if the soundcard chosed as A/D converter.

For sure you need an  internet line  to connnect

your satgate to APRS servers .

Notice to setup your software as a satgate you need to know many things and rules.

googling the net for more info or email me.

My satgate well be temporally on and off   for experments .

Here you can see the packet  I got from ISS using ui-view

Software with AGW PACKET ENGINE SOFTWARE VER 2002

Other software for satgate is UISS with the SATEGATE  module

I wll try to use it for more experament soon.

15-11-2008

I log hz1am from KSA via ISS APRS  via my  sat-gate to APRS net

orbit 57.237

16:28 16:38 UTC

Using UISS  with sategate module .

Station heard by ISS and reported by satgate  .

17-11-2008

I setup my TNC ( TNC 3 S  - SYMEK ) to work with AGW packet engine .

Setting up the AGW with a TNC is so easy. Now  my soundcard is so happy to play music  :-)

No more many wires  between the Rig and PC.

UISS works very nice with AGW and the TNC .

I worked with this setup  PCSAT NO_44 APRS  Orbit  # 37.231 .

NO-44 replyed to my APRS very will, Sadly no satgate around to pick up my APRS  :-(

Here is screen shot of UISS with NO-44  PCSAT

 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 17-11-2008

 Next  NO-44 pass , orbit # 37.232

I put my UISS  sategate on

I succeded to report the PCSAT APRS to the  internet.

Here IS screen snapshot of UISS SATGATE  .

18-11-2008

My Satgate  log PCSAT NO-44  Beacon to  APRS

ORBIT # 37.245

09:55-10:09 UTC

ISS APRS not active today due to docking  of the Space Shuttle Endeavour

with the International Space Station . STS-126 is the 27th shuttle mission to visit the station.

For more information about Amateur Radio activity on board ISS  see www.issfanclub.com
